The School District of Wild Rose, located in Central Wisconsin, is seeking a progressive forward-thinking individual that is looking for a quality school district, one with high expectations for education; the joys and challenges of a smaller rural district; and the opportunity to work with a team of staff and administrators focused on continual improvement of student learning.  The School District of Wild Rose is searching to fill a 1.0 FTE Business Manager position.

The School District of Wild Rose Business Manager will provide leadership and financial accountability in support of meeting the District’s educational goals and mission.  This position is responsible for providing leadership in support of the district’s mission, as well as ensuring district financial stability and supporting student programs.   As part of our Leadership Team, the Business Manager will be a key player in setting up the district for success in all areas of our District, including Student Success, Relationships, Operations, and Growth Innovation.  The School District of Wild Rose seeks an individual with proven success in financial leadership and management in a collaborative, success-oriented environment.  Candidates must possess the ability to easily navigate between strategic-level challenges and superior operational management.  It's an exciting time to join our team!  


Qualifications preferred for candidates seeking this position include:

  • Experience in business management;

  • Accounting experience;

The following includes some, but not all, responsibilities related to this position:

Serve as the chief financial officer, managing the finances of the District, ensuring the District meets all federal, state, and local requirements;

  • Manage and direct all aspects of financial services including budget development, property tax levy development, research and planning, accounting, payroll, cash management, inventory control, financial reporting, purchasing, contractual agreements, and insurance risk management;

  • Provide leadership in the identification, development, and implementation of District goals;

  • Advise the Superintendent and Board of Education on business affairs of the District;

  • Provide monthly financial reports to the Board of Education.

  • Assists administrators with the interpretation, implementation, and administration of budgets;

  • Ensures district financial stability and student program support;

  • Preparation of the annual District budget and supervise its implementation;

  • Monitor the budget and provide appropriate financial information to all administrative staff;

  • Management of unemployment and workman’s compensation claims;

  • Review accident summary reports and investigate serious accidents for claims;

  • Manages all district investments to ensure investment stability and maximize return on investment (ROI);

  • Supervise bid specifications and the seeking of competitive bids;

  • Prepare the certification of tax levies to municipalities and ascertain the collection of taxes;

  • Be familiar with all appropriate school laws pertaining to school finance and the transaction of school business;

  • Maintain the annual school census and retention of census records;

  • Direct school transportation services. Coordinate and revise bussing contracts for student transportation. 

  • Supervise and coordinate the school lunch program through the Supervisor of Nutrition Services;

  • Interpret and communicate to the public any questions or issues concerning the areas of financial responsibility;

  • Assist negotiations with the Board of Education Negotiations Committee;

  • Oversee the application process, accounting, disbursement, and claiming of all state and federal grants:

  • Administrative Leadership: Collaborate with and provide support to human resources, technology, pupil services, and curriculum & instruction;

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Knowledge of District-adopted, or similar, software applications such as Skyward and the Google Suite of programs.

  • Assume responsibility for his/her own professional growth and learning to positively shape district effectiveness.
